Steven C. Amstrup researches bears and their ecosystems. His interests include distribution and movement patterns as well as wildlife population dynamics. Trent L. McDonald is a statistician and project manager with Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. and Adjunct Professor of Statistics at the University of Wyoming. Bryan F. J. Manly is the author of several books on the statistics of natural selection, multivariate analysis, resource selection by animals, research study designs, computer-intensive statistics, and environmental statistics.

Mark-recapture a book of insight

This book went through both the old and new literature of mark-recapture in pretty good detail, though not explicitly on MLE or such in deriving some estimators (though they gave references of others who have).
It jumps around a bit when describing different techniques, but overall I think it is a worthwhile book to have if you are doing mark-recapture analysis, esp. if you use the program MARK by White, and others.

Excellent Guide

If you are new to mark-recapture and need to know how to do the work and analyze it, begin with this book. I would rate this book higher if I could because of the clear writing and applicability. I was stunned to not see this book with 5 stars already.
Remember, as with any book, let this be the jumping off point for your work. The field continues to move, but books are a great place to get your feet wet.
